The gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle

Stretching over 12 ha, the gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle contain over 80 blossoming and thriving themed gardens with plants from all over the world.
In the grounds of the botanical gardens there is also the Touriseum museum. In an original way the Touriseum conveys 200 years of the history of tourism in Tyrol.

 

Castel Tirolo

Castel Tirolo  is located in majestic position high above Merano and is one of the most magnificent castles in South Tyrol. Today the castle houses the museum for culture and natural history. Directly next to the castle is Gufyland, a rescue station for birds of prey. Daily flying displays tell you more about the world of these majestic birds.

 

South Tyrol Museum of Archaeology

The Iceman on display at the South Tyrol Museum of Archaeology in Bolzano is one of the world’s best-known and most important mummies. In addition to the famous "Iceman" and all the details of his find, the Museum of Archaeology documents the pre- and early history of South Tyrol from the end of the last ice age to the reign of Charlemagne. The museum opens up an exciting window on the history of the Alps.

 

Geoparc Bletterbach

The canyon offers an insight into the history of stones, which are more than 280 million years old. The forest teaching trail explains nature in a wonderful way and the geological path takes you on a journey through time, from Antiquity to the Middle Ages.

 

An Adventure Playground for Children on Watles

The popular family-friendly Spielesee Lake is 1500 m² in size and offers excitement and adventures.
Here children can pan for gold, glide along on rafts and through ditches, as well as travelling over suspension bridges and under waterfalls. They can find gemstones in - Diamond Grotto. Children love the long slide into the water and the new Funballz, a water–walking ball which kids cab can hop and run with along the surface of the water. There are many wooden sun lounge chairs, in order to relax and enjoy the enchanting view from the splendid viewing platform.
The Spielesee Lake is entry free of charge.

The Spielesee Lake is located just below the mountain station of the Watles chairlift and below the Plantapatsch Alpine hut.

 

Swiss National Park

The Swiss National Park extends over an area of roughly 170 km² in Engadine and is the country’s only National Park. It offers 80 km of signposted hiking trails and it is the oldest national park in the Alps. It is known for its abundance of Alpine animals and Alpine plants in a barely touched pristine landscape.
